The drinks industry seems to be one of those things people just "fall into". I had no idea what I wanted to do once I left college, but I did know that university wasn't for me. I enjoyed learning and studying and still wanted to pursue some form of education, but I needed to gain some practical experience alongside.
Two years later I had completed a BTEC National Diploma in Hospitality and Catering and was on the drinks path. One particular module had inspired me: Alcoholic Beverages. Somehow I already had a reasonable grasp of the production methods of most drinks - I think I learnt through osmosis...
With my focus set on alcohol, I enrolled at Plumpton College to study Wine Business. Alongside this, I also achieved my Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) Diploma.
Whilst Plumpton College and the WSET provided me with invaluable knowledge and expertise in wine, I was always more drawn to the spirits side of the industry. Luck played its part in that I came to the industry just as gin was starting its current boom. I submersed myself in all things juniper-related and haven't looked back.
I began blogging in 2013 under the name Cherry Drinks and am proud that it's developed into this website. I love to tweet (say hi @CherryConstable) and am a huge advocate of Twitter Tastings - #Ginvent I'm looking at you in particular.
I am also very fortunate to judge at many international wine and spirits competitions. For more information on this, please click here.
I aim to cover most drinks, but it's fair to say: expect a lot of gin.
