Greenall's Extra Reserve
In 1761, Thomas Dakin founded G&J Distillers in Warrington and began producing their iconic gin. He created the recipe for Greenall’s Original, a recipe which remains unchanged and has only been revealed to the seven Master Distillers over the course of the last 250 years. Today Greenall’s is owned by international drinks group, Quintessential Brands with Joanne Moore being the seventh generation Master Distiller, continuing her family’s and the company’s long traditions.
Joanne is the current guardian of the Original recipe, but has also developed the range with the introduction of Wild Berry, Sloe Gin and Extra Reserve expressions.
Greenall’s Extra Reserve gin has been specially created for the UK’s World Duty Free stores, making it the company’s first exclusive product for travel retail. It is based on the Original recipe, but sees citrus taking more of a lead role with the addition of Moroccan sweet orange, Turkish grapefruit and Spanish lemon.
Additionally, Greenall’s introduced a new bottle design, celebrating their fantastic heritage, craftsmanship and overarching quality. The design highlights the date of 1761 in proud embossing and is inspired by the original bottles from the 1700s.
Moroccan sweet orange
Aromas: Bright soft minty lemon aromas with soft bergamot and lavender tones. Quite delicate.
Palate: Rich with good weight and texture. Oily citrus with a pleasant little tang on the finish and a touch of spice underneath.
With Tonic: Soft floral aromas develop. A full, round and vibrant texture with a little black pepper heat. Dominant citrus on the palate leading to a tiny bubblegum note on the finish.
Greenall's have maintained consistent high quality and are a go-to, approachable style. The Extra Reserve continues these qualities whilst extending the citrus characters and adding another layer of depth.
